When speaking with my good- swim team friend, Jasmine, a point of a rather comical quality arose in our conversation. Apparently, at the one swim practice I did not attend, she and my other good friend Sarah had been resting on the wall, thinking of metaphors for swimming. Allow me to give some background on Sarah; She is a tall, reed like girl, with burnished, short amber hair, brown eyes, and the longest limbs you will ever see. Sarah is quite absorbed in her own world, and she is otherwise known as a space kid- she has a very interesting and rather oblivious sense of humor, which makes her all the more funny. I once called her mentally retarded, and she absentmindedly answered yes.....saying that a four hundred meter swim is longer than one consisting of two hundred meters. Anyway, my pathetic attempts of description of Sarah are quite pathetic indeed, and I will leave you to imagine your own version of Sarah.
Anyhow, Jasmine and Sarah sat on the wall after a swim set, and like I stated, were making up metaphors for swimming. Well, finally, Sarah vacantly said "Swimming is like a cloud; you don't move very fast." For Sarah to say this was quite surprising, as Sarah is actually quite fast- I told her at a recent swim meet that she just disappears into the water, like an eel. Her brown eyes widened and she said "I didn't' know anybody saw me swimming at the bottom of the pool when I was supposed to be doing our 100 IM!" I then explained to her that her smooth stroke and very thin body seemed to just evaporate in the water.
Well, this concludes a very boring glimpse into my more tedious life.
